Sundance Parties, Events Roundup for 2023 Festival

After two years of hosting an online festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sundance Film Festival returns to Park City this year for its 2023 edition from Jan. 19-29. Film lovers, filmmakers, industry insiders, actors, artists and more are expected to return en masse for the festivities that will include a packed calendar of parties, panels, concerts, gatherings and networking opportunities, in addition to all the big-screen showings.

Below is a roundup of all of the intel The Hollywood Reporter has gathered thus far, featuring events in Park City. All times listed are local.

Thursday, Jan. 19

Sundance Scoop – Day OneFilmmaker Lodge, 550 Main St., 1:30-2:30 p.m.A conversation and Q&A for media featuring Sundance Institute CEO Joana Vicente, Sundance director of programming Kim Yutani, senior programmer and strategic initiatives director John Nein with moderator Eugene Hernandez, incoming Sundance festival director and head of public programming.

Opening Night: A Taste of Sundance Presented by IMDbProBasin Recreation Fieldhouse, 1388 Center Drive, Park City, 7:15 p.m.The Sundance Institute presents kickoff festivities for the 2023 Sundance Film Festival with a program that honors Luca Guadagnino, Ryan Coogler, Nikyatu Jusu, W. Kamau Bell and others, a performance by Grammy Award winners Indigo Girls and a seated dinner. Proceeds from the event will support the Institute's year-round work, and it's all possible thanks to support from George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation, Acura and Variety. White Claw Shore Club608 Main St. in Park City, Jan. 19-22 (Jan. 19: 1-10 p.m.; Jan. 20-22: 11 a.m.–10 p.m.)Presented by White Claw, the exclusive hard seltzer of Sundance Film Festival 2023, the first White Claw Shore Club in the U.S. will celebrate the next wave of creators in a premium lounge experience complete with live performances from emerging musicians, including Abraham Alexander, and immersive works from local artists. White Claw will also debut a new 30-second ad, directed by Laura M. Gonçalves, that will run in between every five films premiering at the fest. Attendees can visit a customizable beanie station, enter exclusive giveaways, or "grab a White Claw and chill." The White Claw Shore Club will be open to registered attendees; festgoers can access the QR code invite on mini branded snowboards that will be located in several areas throughout Sundance. New for 2023: Acura has expanded to include two venues (Acura Energy Stage and Energy Lab) supporting the indie creative community with programming from Jan. 20-23 along with a fleet of Acura MDX and MDX Type S performance SUVs (official vehicle of Sundance) traversing the streets of Park City, Utah and Acura's full lineup of performance vehicles on display. The Energy Lab will be the brand's all-new second location that will feature an energized experience with a photo booth and an interactive art installation. UTA HouseUTA House, private location, daily programming Jan. 20-22The agency mounts an invite-only, private house to host creatives, filmmakers, storytellers, executives and industry insiders for a weekend of programming, panels, parties and events. Elizabeth Banks, Susanna Fogel, Maryam Keshavarz, Thembi Banks and Lulu Wang are expected, along with Hartbeat and brands like Archer Roose, Barry's, Roku, Lyft, Mijenta Tequila, Free People, Simply Mixology and more. UTA will also host fitness and ski activations in partnership with Free People and Barry's Bootcamp on weekend mornings. The House is curated by UTA Entertainment & Culture Marketing.

Chase Sapphire on Main573 Main St., Jan. 20-24, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. dailyThe lounge will play host to premiere parties, LA Times co-presented panel discussions and a special Chase Sound Check with Anderson .Paak at TAO Park City. Sapphire Reserve cardmembers can also stop by daily for complimentary refreshments, live music and activations including an aura reader, customizable travel accessories, a live watercolor artist and more.

Sunrise HouseRiverhorse on Main, 540 Main St., daily from Jan. 20-22, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.Daniel Dae Kim's 3AD teams with Gold House and the Asian American Foundation (TAAF) to mount the Sunrise House, the official pan-AAPI house of the Sundance Film Festival. Shabbat Tent presents the annual Shabbat LoungeAddress provided upon RSVP, daily from Jan. 20-22The Shabbat Lounge returns to Sundance with a program of events that will include the signature Friday night Shabbat dinner, a Friday night Oneg Soirée, Saturday L’Chaim Cholent Chill, Saturday night Havdallah concert and a Sunday Jewish filmmakers and friends brunch. All events are complimentary with RSVP and include food and hot drinks. All are welcome. Ticket required for Shabbat dinner. (RSVP required: shabbatlounge.org.) The Latinx House268 Main St., daily programming from Jan. 20-22The house returns to Park City, expanding its Sundance partnership and highlighting the footprint made by Latinx creators. The Latinx House will be involved with cross-cultural programming, facilitating talks on Latinx representation and new Latinx identities and hosting parties with performances and comedy. The Audible Listening Lodge at the Sundance Film FestivalKimball Terrace, 675 Main St., Jan. 20-22, daily programming from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.Audible invites Sundance Film Festival attendees to visit lodge for Audible listening stations showcasing a premium selection of stories and content across three themes — Wellbeing, Music and Storytelling — along with cozy seating with fireplaces and a heated yurt as well as free hot and cold beverages, empanadas, s’mores and more. It will also play host to conversations with filmmakers and creative in partnership with Variety.

Sommsation Lounge408 Main St., daily Jan. 20-22During the fest's first weekend, Sommsation will offer a limited number of curated sommelier-led wine tasting experiences for wine lovers and Sundance attendees to book. The private wine experiences will be led by the brand's sommeliers and are reservation only from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily and can be booked via [email protected]. In addition to the tastings, Sommsation will host private industry events, movie premieres, junkets and panels at the Sommsation Lounge and will be sponsoring several events throughout the fest.

Stanley Pop-UpThe Cabin, 427 Main St., daily Jan. 20-22, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.A free activation mounted by the makers of the vacuum-insulated, stylish food/drinkware products, the official drinkware and sustainability partner of this year's festival. Sundance Film Festival Opening Weekend Art LoungeKimball Art Center's Art Lounge, 1251 Kearns Blvd., Jan. 20-22, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. dailyKimball Art Center hosts attendees in their quest for culture at this space located between the Eccles Theatre, fest headquarters, Holiday Village and The Ray. The current exhibition features Between Life and Land: Material, part of a three-part exhibition series focused on telling stories of artist's relationship with the lens. It includes three films by Robert Smithson and Nancy Holt.

The IMDb StudioAcura Festival Village, Jan. 20-23, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.Celebrity photographer Corey Nickols will capture exclusive photos and slow-motion videos with casts and filmmakers. IMDb will also produce original video interviews with select casts in the custom video studio. Coverage will be featured on the IMDb site, apps, and social channels. Free People BrunchThe Terrace Room at 350 Main St., 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.Free People is hosting a private, invite-only celebrity brunch to celebrate ambassador Brittany O’Grady's film premiere (Sometimes I Think About Dying) and Free People's partnership with Americans For The Arts, a leading nonprofit supporting interdisciplinary arts. Featuring Zackary Drucker (The Stroll), Randall Park (Shortcomings), Alethea Arnaquq-Baril (Twice Colonized) and Marlee Matlin (CODA) with moderator Bird Runningwater.

Authentically Successful panelAcura Energy Stage at Acura Festival Village at 480 Swede Alley, 2:30 p.m.Hosted by IMDb and Prime Video, the discussion features community leaders paving the way for authentic and inclusive productions. Panelists include Alex Schmider of GLAAD, Andria Wilson Mirza of ReFrame, Crystal Echo Hawk of IllumiNative, Kyle Bowser of the NAACP Hollywood Bureau, and Nic Novicki of Easterseals Disability Film Challenge. The space will serve as a gathering spot for storytellers and audiences seeking new voices and fresh perspectives, and a space to recognize and celebrate Native creatives, artists and industry leaders who are advancing Native representation and inclusivity in TV and film. Programming will feature events, dinners, panels, integrated in music, fashion and food to immerse attendees in Native culture and celebrate its impact on society and pop culture. Ericka Nicole Malone Entertainment's Indie Director's and Creator's SpotlightThe Cabin, 427 Main St., 10 a.m.-11 p.m.The invite-only event is a day-to-night activation that celebrates diversity in filmmaking with a program that features conversations, networking, performances and entertainment. This free session features filmmakers and industry experts in discussion about the role indie film plays in the climate movement. Sloan Foundation, this "Big Conversation" event brings to mind a series of questions: What happened to better living through science and technology? Where's our science optimism? What if near-future fiction gave us inspiration instead of nightmares and solutions to daunting problems? What if bioengineering produced bacteria that eat plastic instead of people? From AI to genetics, it will be an examination of the bright side of science and the ethical framework scientists and storytellers bring to the idea of progress.
